My office moved to a new building over the weekend, hence the issues with the
Internet. Today was our second day
internetless. They better fix it soon
because I don't think I can make it another day without. Boredom hits a whole new level when you can not read blogs
and entertainment weekly online.
But in the more exciting news a new office means new terrain for me to learn, and new stunts for me to pull. The new office is extremely nice. Much fancier than our old
office which is
saying a lot since that was no dump to
begin with. Now I sit in the marble lobby all by myself. A little lonesome at time but great when it comes to deciding what music to listen to for the day. We don't have security guards like the old building, which I thought would save me some humiliation, but no, instead we have security cameras. And yest there is someone out there who sits and watches the footage all day long. Luck for me one of the cameras is right above my desk. I feel the need to wave at it every time I walk by.
So in our new office we have a great conference room that is actually large enough to hold all of our employees. It is pretty great, but the thing about the conference
room is that two complete walls of it are all glass. This is basically an accident waiting to happen. Need I even finish the story here? We all know that it is inevitable that I will run into the wall at some point or another. But really did it have to be the first day? While the whole office was enjoying lunch in said conference room? Of course, I had to go out with a BANG!
I had actually moments prior to running into the wall just made a comment to all of my coworkers about how proud I
was of the f act that I had managed to be in the office 4 whole hours without hitting t
he wall yet. Then I went to leave, I saw the door propped open and headed in that direction. The glass was just so darn clean I could not tell the difference from the glass wall and the doorway. I walked to the left of the door, thinking that I was exiting out of the open area into the hallway when in fact I was headed
straight for the glass (the open portal was to the left of the door) My coworkers saw it all happening and started to yell at me, but my slow reflexes kept me from understanding what was happening. I ran smack into the wall, with the whole office watching. (Thankfully I was saved from too much
embarrassment, about five minutes later a fellow co worker did the exact same thing)
What a good first day!
I have now survived day two as well, with no
Internet and no running into glass.
Wahoo!!
On a P.S. note yesterday I was given keys to the office (which all employees have) a key to the garage (which only three other people have) and a code to the alarm system (only two other people have this). I am a little frightened about this whole alarm thing. As the first person to arrive most mornings I will be in charge of disarming the alarm system. This power gives me great fear. Do you know what happens if I do not get the code punched in quick enough? Oh
that's right the police and the fire department come. YIKES!!!
