EGG celent!

Can a Monday evening get any better than CHUCK, friends and decorating Easter eggs? I think not. It would however appear than not everyone loves decorating eggs as much as Angela, Rachel and I. We had planned for an abundance of guests, who conveniently could not all make it. Leaving us with oh so many eggs to color.
Rachel provided us with some great egg bling..........rhinstones and stickers galore.
Have you ever bedazzled an egg?
Yeah I have!!!!

Here is Tori with her collection fit for the finest museum.........she was rockin the crayon magic.
Kent was, well a maniac when it came to coloring the eggs.

These would be my BEAUTIFUL eggs. I have no problem informing you that they were probably the most attractive of the bunch...........and the only eggs that got names. I won't bore you with the details of all of them - but I will share with you the most popular of them all. "The crown of glory" can you guess which one that is?

I somehow managed to not snap a photo of Rachel or Angela's eggs, don't really know how that happened. But I am pretty certain that they will both have photos up on their blogs later today......make sure to check them out.

SMILE

Cam came to town. We had a lovely visit last night. After dinner we headed out to a $2 movie. Which, due to an incident at Christmas Cameron will never again allow me to pick the movies we see, so Jake picked this one. While in the parking lot Angela appointed herself to be official photographer of the evening. She is really quite skilled.
Check out this AWESOME photo:

Apparently she had her camera on a funky setting. While she made the necessary adjustments people started to stare. Cameron got skittish. Tried to run away. Then a truck drove by us, nice and slow. The driver was leaning out the window yelling SMILE......SMILE.........SMILE! Lucky for us she has the fastest fingers in the west and captured this one before Cameron bolted.

up in flames

I have in the course of my life set off the smoke detector a few times. When we first moved into the Penthouse it was slightly more frequent ...... I had some issues with our oven, it did not like me. Thanks to my history I am not startled at least once a day when the coffee maker finishes it's brew (or thinks it finishes it's brew.........it lies).

Back a couple of months ago we got a couple new coffee makers. The one that has stayed with us the longest has a fancy "alert" feature. Yeah, I think fancy is code for 'we know it's annoying but haha sucker you can't turn it off.' The series of beeps are SO loud they can be heard all across the apartment, and sound amazingly similar to the smoke detector. Every time it goes off my emergency response instincts set in, for the whole 5 seconds it takes me to remember that it is just the coffee maker.

Last night when I arrived home from work Rachel was making pizza and Angela was brewing coffee. Minutes later the coffee finished ..... the beeps began, Rachel panicked. She opened the oven and began fanning the kitchen, obviously too panicked to notice that there was no smoke. I laughed. A LOT!

Not only is the beeping a little annoying, but I think that it is going to end up killing us. Someday the smoke detector will go off because of a real fire, and I will not be phased. I will probably go down in flames thinking - oh joy the coffee is done.

Thank you Cuisinart for slowly deadening my emergency reactions.

Are you wearing green today?

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
Are there rules for pinching people on this day?
There is not one single person in my office wearing green today.
My normally pinch happy self is not feeling incredibly comfortable attacking my coworkers.
I am guessing my boss would not appreciate it either.
Bummer!!!
Were is your holiday spirit people?

U DUB

Friday morning my boss called me into his office, I go in notebook in hand, ready to be given a task. Instead of work we begin discussing college basketball. I could not figure out where the conversation was headed, I could see that he was looking at the NCAA website on his computer and in my head I was thinking 'is he going to ask me advice for brackets?' Next thing I know I have two tickets in premier seating and a parking pass for the Pac 10 championship game Saturday.

Neither Angela or I had ever been to staples center, so this was an exciting adventure for more reasons than just the game. We quite enjoyed using the VIP entrance, and roaming the halls of the premier level. And I have to say, the seats were amazingly comfortable, I could get used to that lifestyle of luxury.

Before the game started we made a friendly wager......I for the huskies, Ang for the bears. After a very close final few minutes, in which I really thought I might have a heart attack. WA came through victorious. Minus the traffic we had to sit through on our way downtown we had a blast, and I have to say I so easily forgot how much I enjoy basketball. Watch out Holt and Floch clan, my brack is ready for domination!!!

Wordy word word

Today I realized something. Nothing major. Just a little ironic.

When I got the later years of high school, I started running out of classes to take. My tiny little school did not have a whole lot of options, so I resorted to doing online classes through the community college instead. Even still I was not a really motivated student. I wanted to take lazy people classes, ones that would not require home work, or really any work at all. There was a film class available which I of course was excited to take, but after that, the pickings were slim.

Out of sheer laziness I decided on Microsoft Word. I know what your thinking - that's a class? HA! Yes. It is a class. I passed it with flying colors and I can now say on every job application that I am Word Certified. Did you know such a thing existed?

Any who long story short, I took the class to avoid work, and you know what. It has turned out to be one the most useful classes I took in school. I use my word knowledge constantly. Not a day goes by when I get a frantic call from a coworker over their page numbers or formatting issues. Mandy to the rescue!!!

Well the Oscar technically went to many people,
but the winner of my contest was:
Megan!
WOOT WOOT!!!

It was a close race for a while with four people tied for the lead,
but Megan pulled out the lead in the end.

Extreme Measures

Watching TV at the Penthouse is sometimes tricky. The whole converter box antenna things can be a bit temperamental. There is definite preferential treatment to certain stations. Thank goodness they appear to be on friendly terms with NBC. We might have some major issues otherwise.

ABC on the other hand has become at times unwatchable. Meaning that Monday evening, post Chuck when we tried to tune in the bachelor finale, we got a blank screen. Nothing. Angela jumped up did a little dance, moved the antenna around but had no luck. Next it was Carlos's turn. He too came up with nothing other than panic, and a quick plan to run to his place to catch the end. Enter me and my magic touch, with my save the day spirit this is what I came up with.

For some reason the antenna really like me. Or my shoulder. Either way we were glad to get our reception back.

And for the record I only stood like this until a commercial break - it came in fine after I gave it a little pep talk.
