Did you notice the great new header on the blog?
Yeah it's pretty stellar right?

Many thanks to the fabulous Rachel who designed it.

Rory Saves The Day

Do you know what this is?

Today a coworkers husband sent her a text containing a picture of one of these bags. It was then getting passed around the office to see if anyone could identify what kind of bag it was. You see the person who sent the text had just been with someone who called 8 locations across the US to find a store that had this bag in stock and paid a shocking $8,000 for it. They in true male fashion did not believe that anyone would know what kind of bag it was.

But thanks to my immense pop culture knowledge I was able to save the day. You see this particular bag played a feature role in a late great episode of Gilmore Girls- This is in fact a Birkin bag from Hermes.

Safe Zone

Angela and I had the pleasure of meeting up with Jeni for dinner tonight- we decided to have a little Trop 207 reunion. After dinner we gathered into Ebony (Angela's car) and gave Megan a little ring a ling (that is here on speaker phone - as seen sitting on the console). It was so much fun! We laughed, chatted and squealed.
The drive home however was another story completely. We got lost. I myself have no problem admitting I am completely directionally challenged. I can get lost even with the best directions. Angela on the other hand is a good navigator and has an abundance of freeway and directional knowledge. BUT when we get to chatting I have been know to be somewhat of a distraction. Needless to say we got to talking and pretty soon I was telling us to turn and not long after that we found ourselves traveling in an unknown area of town in the completely wrong direction we needed to be going. After turning around and navigating onto a somewhat familiar road we soon found the 22. Here came the moment of truth. We had no idea where we were.......how were we to know which direction to go on the freeway. Naturally we decided to go east. After pulling into the east entrance turn lane I had a small freak out and decided that NO we were not supposed to go east we were to go west - Angela smoothly pulled out of the turn lane and turned us around to get over to the west entrance at which point I again begin to reevaluate our direction. I was wrong we really did need to go east. Angela was not convinced - I began to draw her an imaginary map on her dash board explaining my reasoning she caved, back to east bound lane we went.

WOOT!!! East it was - we made it home from the block only 45 minutes later.
Score one for the directionally challenged girl, even though I did contribute to us getting lost in the first place - I was able to figure out which direction we needed to travel to get home.

Glee!

Glee is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows.
I think it is absolutely hillarious.
And really I am a total sucker for musicals that take place in high schools.
This clip is from last nights episode. It's a little long,
but it't worth watching, it was my favorite part.

No Words Necessary

Welcome to McDonalds, May I Take Your Order?

Call my crazy but I thought I had put my Drive Thru days behind me. Is it so wrong for a college grad to not want to feel like they are back in high school working at a fast food joint (or in my case Krispy Kreme)? I think not. My boss however has other ideas. He showed up yesterday with a wireless phone headset for me to wear.

I understand how this sounds like a good thing - by wearing the headset I am then able to answer the phone when I am not at my desk. Makes sense. BUT realistically the phone rings under five times a day and I rarely leave my desk. Thus leaving me to look ridiculous and feel like I work in a drive thru at all other times.

Now this may sound like a very small thing, like I could be overreacting, but I am not I tell you. This thing is GIGANTIC, and quite heavy after a while my ear begins to hurt. And I am under no circumstances going to resort to using the optional headband.

I am boycotting - refusing to wear the headset.

My hands are perfectly capable of picking up the phone when it rings.

Autumn

Today is officially the first day of Autumn.
If only the temperature would change. This morning when I got to my car the windshield was covered in a slight dew but at 70 degrees that hardly compares to a cool crisp temperatures of fall. Southern California truly misses out on one of the most beautiful seasons.
Palm trees just don't do it - no falling leaves or changing colors.

In only 63 days I will be here.
I sincerely doubt it will look like this but a girl can dream right?

Picnic in the Park

Today was the all church picnic.
It was delightful.

Normally I am absolutely terrified of events such as this. I am not great around crowds of people...............my introverted tendencies all surface and beg me to flee. But this year was different. I went, and low and behold I had FUN!

We sat with many people from our grace group including but not limited to these fine ladies. We even reverted to our elementary school days of boys and girls separating. The men sat at the picnic table and the women sat on the blanket.

The most memorable part of the picnic however, would have to be our time before hand at Subway. Many of us retreated there after the service to get our food for. When we arrived the store was empty, but not for long, by the time we left people were bursting out the door.

You see Subway is currently participating in a Scrabble game were you get letters and or instant winner tickets on your cups. Angela excitedly pulled off her game tabs and much to her surprise found that she was an instant winner. WOOT!!!!!!!!!!! Ashelyann decided that this was in fact something to celebrate and started yelling and dancing in celebration. We all chanted "instant winner" over and over again while pointing at Angela. Minutes later when Ashleyann had her cup she too pulled off her game tab only to discover that she also won. This time instead of dancing she yelled across the whole store to Andrew who was at the register"Andrew get the chocolate chip cookie" over and over again. (she won a free cookie - but from the sound of it you would have thought she won a million dollars) I think it is safe to say that the Subway employees were probably participating in a celebration of their own when we left.

Knock Knock............Who's There?...............Popcorn

Last night Angela and I were in the back room of our apartment going over her busy schedule. She was in the middle of explaining to me how much different her job is now from her previous one when I herd a noise. I was immediately distracted. I could not concentrate on what she was saying. I thought someone was at our front door. I tried to unnoticeably peer around the door frame and catch a glimpse of the front door -to see if someone was in fact entering our apartment. No such luck I could see nothing. Then just as quickly as it began the noise stopped. I chalked it up to the neighbors and turned my focus back to what Angela was saying.

A mere seconds later the noise returned. This time I just knew someone was trying to break into our apartment (I mean duh! this IS the only possible explanation right?). Since I was so sure someone was trying to enter our apartment I express my concern to Angela. Only as I am saying this I can see the fear rising up in her and it is at this moment that I hear the noise a little more clearly.............and remember only minutes before this conversation Angela has said she was going to make pop corn.

WOOPS!
Since when does pop corn sound like someone breaking into an apartment?
I suceeded in momentarily freaking out both Angela and myself.
I have issues.
I blame it on an overactive imagination.

Haven't Met You Yet

I dedicate this post of Angela, random yes I know,
but she really wanted to see this.
Did anyone else find this video to be as comical as I did? Don't get me wrong I really like Michael Buble, it's just that in this video, nothing much really happens. I did however, find his facial expressions to be pretty entertaining (especially around the one minute mark)
and, ok really, why was he constantly reaching for/pointing to the camera?
That drove me a little crazy.

Name that ............................blog?

For lack of a better topic I have a very thought provoking question for you. That’s right I am enlisting in your help. I have come to realize over the last year that this is not something I can do alone. And because I have been procrastinating it for just about that long I have decided that it needs to be righted ASAP. Therefore the question I ask of you is: Can you think of a better title for my blog?

The current title, was more of a default because at the time I started I was lacking major creativity and could come up with nothing grand. Sadly it still remains today. UGH! If you have any amazing and or inspiring titles please feel free to pass them along my way.

*important sidenote* the URL would not change, only the pathetic title that is on the top of the screen.

Drip.........Drip.........Drip

Last night I arrived home from work to find a nice puddle on my bed. A what? Yes that’s right a puddle. I spent a good ten minutes searching the immediate surrounding area to find the source of the dampness. I found nothing. Nothing else was wet. It was certainly not raining. Where in the world did this puddle come from? I checked the ceiling one last time thinking that was the only logical source and wh-la what did I find? One solitary glistening droplet of water dangling there just waiting to fall onto my bed.

That’s right the ceiling was leaking, AGAIN! Only this time I had no idea why, last time we had a leak it was pouring outside……………..how does this happen? Where could the water be coming from?

I must say that the helpful people at the Woods are quite prompt. Someone was in checking out the situation within minutes. Turns out that the solar panels, or rather solar panel system contains quite a bit of water. Thus the leak, our apartment is located directly below them. After they disconnected the solar panels and drained the water from the roof we were left with a few hours of trickling leakage. This is the loveliness that came from above. Not only was it a lot of water, but it was dirty, rusty, nasty water. GROSS!!!! All over my bed, SICK!

Life In Motel 6

It all started about two months ago when we at the Penthouse found ourselves surrounded by new neighbors. Previous to this all of the tenants in our surrounding area had slowly trickled out of the Woods, leaving us alone and neighborless. We rather liked it; you could say we grew accustomed to a certain lifestyle – leaving plants on the shared stairs and spray painting on the shared balcony. The times of us being alone had passed.

About two days after the new arrivals I arose like any other day – upon my entry to the front room I found myself desperately gasping, trying to get some fresh/clean air. Our apartment was engulfed in the deathly sent of smoke. Not ‘aaaahhhh the apartment is on fire’ smoke but rather the ‘it smells like we live in a nasty old smoking hotel room’ smoke smell. I was dumbfounded – where did this smell come from?

We soon discovered that many of our new neighbors had the bad habit of smoking. The worst was our downstairs neighbors who enjoyed their cigarettes on their patio – which was conveniently located right below our window. For a couple weeks there I was able to tell their regular smoking habits, I knew exactly what time they would be out there. Gross, we could die from second hand smoke, really did they know that? They are not only harming themselves but everyone around them. As Michelle Tanner would say "How Rude!"

I returned from Phoenix to Angela informing me that there has been no smoke as of late. Her hypothesis was that people had complained about the smoke and they were asked to find a new location for such health damaging activities. They have since been spotted lighting up by the dumpsters – and after careful sleuthing/spying onto their patio it has been noted that the ash tray the used to be over flowing is now empty, and there are no match books laying about. I think it is safe to say that we will no longer suffer the direct ramifications of second hand smoke.

Halleluiah!

M.I.A.

It’s been a while. I almost forgot how to blog. Ha, ok maybe not, that was a lie. Did I have you worried there for a minute? So labor day yeah? Three day weekends are pretty amazing, not only do you get a day off of work but you then follow that up with a shortened work week that hopefully will just fly right by.

I spent the holiday weekend in Phoenix with the fam. Well everyone except Jake that is. We had lots of fun catching up, soaking up the sun, shopping, attempting to watch Disney Channel (I would sneak in a few minutes before Cameron and Kevin would simultaneously lunge for the remote) eating, watching movies, playing with Gavin, and eating.

Can you believe I came away from the weekend with absolutely no photos? I don’t really know the last time I went four days without pulling out my camera; this was an odd time to start. But really between Lindsey, Cameron and Mom I did not really feel the need to throw a fourth camera into the mix – but unfortunately for you that means the I do not have a photo slide show for you. I know, right now you are absolutely devastated. I aploligize, next time I shall do better. And in lou of photos I have prepeared for you a short list of things I learned this weekend.
Look at me, turning a vaction into an educational experience.

The List

I learned the following:

  1. Cameron snores
  2. Lindsey and Kevin have enough Diamond Back shirts to clothe a small army
  3. The women in our family have a greater pop culture knowledge than the men (thus us winning at Pop 5 but losing at Cranium because we could not answer the stinkin factoid questions)
  4. John Wayne Airport is WAY better than LAX
  5. I can manage to get sore muscles by doing absolutely nothing – currently my left forearm is immobile due to the pain of sore muscles. How this happened I have no idea – I did nothing remotely resembling physical activity, or strenuous all weekend.

Big Money!

I have never purchased a lottery ticket. I have had a few scratch tickets given to me, and I played the penny slots a few times while in Vegas but over all I am not a big gambler. Until today that is. Today I risked it all. Were talking big money here people. Everyone in my office put in $1 and we are jointly purchasing tickets for this weeks lottery. I am not entirely sure as to what the amount is but rumor around the office is that it is near $30 million. Pretty SWEET!!! Obviously I am hoping for the win but not quitting my day job in anticipation. Oh that’s right I can’t quit my day job. Say What? Why not? Oh right, that would be because upon our decision to purchase the tickets my boss promptly whipped out an official looking document that he made, which all participating employees had to sign. The basic gist of the document was: if we win we can not quit, we must continue to work normal business hours.

HA!

He says he is just covering all the bases – Let’s hope he really does need it!

Welcome

Sunday was a little crazy in the Penthouse. We did a much needed overhaul and finished up all of our rearranging and redecorating. One of the many new additions was a Welcome mat. Can you believe we have lived here for 15 months and never purchased one? We have been talking about doing so since the day we moved in and just never got around to it.

Now we have her, and our door looks all the more welcoming which works out just swell since mom is coming for a little visit tomorrow. The luxury accommodations that are provided by the Penthouse are quite popular and fill up swiftly but lucky for her we just happen to have a vacancy tomorrow night.
