"it's like Cujo!"

There used to be a whole section on yahoo dedicated to "weird news" it may still exist, but it's not on the front page like it used to be. But regardless I would read it, you know for laughs. The funniest part was that many times the stories would be from my hometown, the Spokane area. Really I can think of at least 3, maybe that is not TONS, but still a lot. Some of  my favorites include a daycare that had it's pet bunny was stolen, and the thief had left a ransom note behind in it's cage and the people who made a snow Jabba the Hut, even colored it.

So today I was checking the headlines on yahoo and I see "Mystery dog pack terrorizes Wash. area" then under the headline in the two line summary it says the killed a llama. I knew immediately that Wash. area was Spokane. I did however think that perhaps it was in my parents backyard - as some of our neighbors [using the word neighbors loosely as they live at least a mile down our road, but you know in that area if you live on the same road you are considered neighbors] one of my childhood friends had llamas. It was not their llama that got slain by the dogs on a killing spree. But it still was the Spokane area. The crazies of Spokane strike again.

If you don't feel like reading the article, although I do recommend it, it gave me a good laugh, I shall leave you with my favorite quote "they are just killing for the sake of killing."

the birds strike AGAIN!

I am terrified of birds. Small birds, big birds, any and all birds, people tell me they are harmless, or they won't come near me. But they do. They are seriously out to get me, and they have been for YEARS! In case you need a refresher I have written about some of my quite literal "run ins" with birds before.

Just over a week ago I had been reminiscing some of these bird horrors with my parents. I was telling them how I daily drive under a train overpass that always contains a few birds. I seriously think they are going to fly into my car. One time I even ducked - inside my car. They laughed at me, and told me that the birds would not hurt me, that they really are not "after" me.

Again I tell you the birds have it in for me. I was driving through the tunnely underpass yesterday, and of course there were birds flying. When I had a flash of fear, I started to laugh because I was replaying the conversation wtih my parents. When "THUNK!!!!!" A HUGE splattering of something bird related hit my car. I freaked out. I am pretty certain I screamed, and had to coach myself on some calming deep breaths.

It was not an actual bird that hit me (thank goodness), I think it was bird vomit....I am not certain, but regardless it was gross. The whole splatter was approximately the size of a dinner plate. Right in my line of vision. Good thing I have quick reflexes and hit the windshield washers, because there was very little visibility. I am sure that is exactly what they wanted - to cause a traffic accident. Those evil birds.
This is the nastyness that was left over, out of the reach of my wipers. I may need to start going to counseling, because I was not able to drive through the bird tunnel today. I am just not ready to face them again.

tennis

David came for a short visit. He said he was in town for a wedding but really we know that just a few weeks home for summer and already he missed hanging out with us. Nice huh? So we changed the usual Monday night hang out to Friday, and hit up Five Guys for dinner. We were anticipating making a BIG mess, look at all of our napkins. Angela, Elizabeth and I all grabbed a stack for the table, and they put a bunch in each of our orders. Woops! It reminded Angela and I of our more pathetic days where we didn't like paying for napkins, and would stock our kitchen with fast food napkins - Baja Fresh ones were our apartment fav.

Then it was off to the tennis courts. And of course no sport playing can begin without first taking a "trading card" worth photo. Angela, clearly had the best shot, I may have broken my leg, David was taking his coaching role very seriously - no monkey business for him, and Elizabeth, well she tried to hide her racket, but if you look close enough you can see it, she was ready to play!!

There was no getting around that fact that we three ladies lacked tennis skills. I don't even think we mastered the scoring by the end of the night. So it was unavoidable that whatever team David was on was going to win. But we still had tons of fun. And after a brief freak out moment mid way through of Angela thinking she was suffering from Tennis elbow, we all laughed at her and told her she was being ridiculous. But little did I know I would wake up the next day with slightly sore arms.

proud

A series of funny things happened yesterday. None related to the next, but they all made me laugh. First, I got a text from a wrong number.....well I assume it is a wrong number unless my father got a new number and started speaking some Spanish. It said "Good job mejo. Love and proud of u. Dad."

Then on my way home I was stopped at a red light when a police car pulled up next to me, there was someone in the back seat. This totally caught me off guard, because really how many times do you actually see someone back there? I don't know that I ever have, so of course I had to do a double take and check out this hardened criminal being taken in by the Fullerton police. Upon looking back at him, I was greeted with a large grin, and a wink.

Finally, I spotted an old man cruisin the sidewalks on his little motorized wheel chair/scooter thing. Shirtless. Keeping in mind it was like 70 not excruciatingly hot, and let's just say he didn't have the type of stomach that could pull off the whole shirtless look.

madness

Jakeypoo

The last couple weeks have been a little more crazy than normal. I have become quite the party animal....or so it feels like it to me. Between birthdays, graduations, wedding showers, and engagements I have been spending my weekends going from one celebration to the next. This last weekending being the biggest and bestest of all.

the most GLAM graduation cap ever!

Thank goodness we got the extra day to recover [i LOVE three day weekends - but who doesn't?] The whole fam was in from their various cities to celebrate Jake and Hannah's Graduation from Biola. I had a brief flashback to my graduation and felt old, I probably sounded like a grandparent and said something like "back in my day" but really nothing has changed - other than the size of the graduating classes, they are so much bigger now! Other than graduation we ate a lot, slept very little, celebrated Grammy (aka mom) and Audra's birthdays, watched cartoons, taught Audra how to lift weights (she may be a future body builder) hit up the flea market, got extremely sunburned, and Pops fixed various peoples car's and household items.

the Birthday Girls

And I can't forget an honorable mention that Rachel and Nathan got engaged somewhere in all of that. WOOT WOOT! That girl is more suspicious than anyone I know, keeping secrets from her requires a lot of lying, last week I was not bringing my A game, and nearly gave it away.

All that and I have very few photos to show for it. It was one of those weekends where everyone and their mom had a camera out so I figured I wouldn't take and and just steal their photos. But guess who forgot to swipe the photos, yeah that would be me. Now regretting not pulling out the camera - those three photos are pretty much all I have to show for it, so enjoy those puppies!
