a small hole

Last night I was having my weekly Sunday night, drive home from church phone call with Angela (one of my new favorite times of the week) when I arrived back at my apartment I had to carry in the poly-fil I had bought earlier in the day. I had left it in the car that morning because I had too many bags to carry in, so I just figured I could carry that in later.

It was later. I was on the phone, but still fully capable of carrying a bag of cotton - I mean it's not like it's heavy. So Angela and I are talking when all of the sudden the bag felt a whole lot lighter. I looked down and just could not contain my laughter. I'm pretty sure Angela thought I had gone crazy because I just kept laughing. Over half of the stuffing had fallen out all across the parking lot. There was a small trail.
Of course I wished Audra had been with me, with her obsession with fuzz she would have had it all picked up in two seconds. Instead it took me a bit to go back and gather it all, while trying to explain to Angela what had happened. I really hope someone had been watching me out their window because I'm sure I looked SO crazy.....some girl walking back and forth across the parking lot picking up fuzz.

I couldn't get it to fit back in the bag so I had to carry it all loose up to my apartment. Hopefully I didn't drop any more behind me haha.

surprise

A couple hours into my work day I was standing at the copy machine. Just waiting patiently for my copies to finish, and scratching my back. I felt something strange in the back of my sweater. Naturally I thought it was a spare button sewn into it - you know how they do that on a tag at the seem? So I'm thinking hhhmm that is strange that I have had this sweater for a few years and never noticed that.

I reached for it one more time, to give it a closer look when it fell out into my hand. A spare button it was not, part of an old stale pretzel it was.
I just about died. How in the world did that pretzel manage to adhere itself to my sweater. I swear I am not making this stuff up. A couple of weeks ago [the last time I have worn this sweater] I was hanging out at the Holt house - and both Gavin and Audra had been taking turns sitting in my lap and eating these pretzels - I think Audra may have even been feeding them to me.  Somehow I guess one managed to hide out/get stuck to me. Who knew static cling was an issue for pretzels?

friday friday

Thanks to Rebecca Black I bet you are all now singing the song, or well maybe you are not, but I sure am! Do you know what happens Friday? Something big.......
Yup that's right The Hunger Games movie comes out. WOOT WOOT! I've been trying to cram in a last minute reread before I see it. I have watched the trailer an embarrassing amount of times - but I just can't believe that it is finally here. I remember a day not all that long ago when Rachel and I first heard rumor that they were going to make a movie. Then they said it would release in March......and that seemed like an eternity away........and now it's HERE it's finally here!!!

On a completely off topic note I just realized tonight while I was loading the dishwasher that I have yet to drink out of a cup in my apartment. I have plenty of them, some white and some pink. They are quite pretty, I picked them all out. And yet I have never drank out of them. Funny. I always just use my water-bottle.....or like above I am drinking a hot beverage out of a mug or a soda out of a can.

the saga continues

Remember way back in December when the smoke detector started beeping? Well the brothers both tried to replace the battery and were unsuccessful. Then just as quickly as it began it stopped beeping and I chose to forget about the whole thing. That was till two weeks ago when one EARLY Saturday morning it started again. I went to investigate, and of course like the boys I was unsuccessful at getting the stinkin battery out. So I decided to just call it an early morning and go for a run. After I returned from work later that day like the last time it had stopped beeping. And again I forgot about it.

Now that brings us to yesterday morning. When 3:30am rolled around and with it came the loud beeping once again. And I do mean loud I attempted to ignore it but turning the ceiling fan on high and putting a pillow over my head, but no such luck I could still hear it. I knew I was not going to get back to sleep so I set out on Mission Impossible. I had had it with that silly thing and I knew I was not going to sleep again until it stopped.

It took me a good twenty minutes but I did get the battery out. But of course that was not good enough it was still beeping. How does that happen? It clearly had a life of it's own. So now it's nearly 4 o'clock and I have no idea where I put the battery I had for the smoke detector. After tearing apart a few drawers I remembered there was a 9 volt battery in the Stud Finder in my tool bag - so off I went.

I may no longer be able to find studs but I can sleep. YAY! I crawled back into bed feeling quite victorious!

stormy skies

Happy first day of Spring!!
We've been getting quite the stormy weather here the last couple of days. I can't help but LOVE it. There is nothing like wind and rain to make you want to stay inside all day with a good book or movie. And, it provided the perfect opportunity for me to get in all my last wears of my sweaters, tights and cold weather clothing. It's like the final farewell to cool weather before the sun of summer comes out and makes me melt.
I took this photo especially for Angela - can you identify what kind of clouds these are? I know you had the two day stint a while back where you were really into clouds and wanting to know all the different types.
After the massive downpour that woke me up a few times in the night we were rewarded with this beauty.

Saturday

This last Saturday was the first Saturday in March in the last five years that I have not had to work. How wonderful is that? It worked out magnificently since the parents were in town and the Zags were playing. Even miss Hadley was dressed up for the occasion. But, sadly no amount of team sprit and cheering on our part was able to help them pull out a win in the end.
And I have to shoot out a big thanks to the parents who accompanied me shopping and out to eat. I realized a while back that one of the things I miss most about California is well my friends, but with that eating out/having people to eat out with. So for the last couple of weeks I have been just DYING to eat a Guacamole Bacon Burger from Red Robin. And well the parents were just kind enough to make that happen, YAY! Aren't they they best? And for the record I have to throw out there that it did not disappoint - the burger was DELISH!!

the wall street journal

Yeah that's right I read the Wall Street Journal. Funny no? I never would have pictured myself as a reader but I have to say the weekend journal is my favorite....and at times the Personal Journal too.

Today I was doing just that, enjoying the Personal Journal when I stumbled up on this article "The 23 Rules of March Madness."
And of course I quickly zoned in on rule number 17.
"There's no word that's more exciting to say than "Gonzaga."
Now in light of Tuesday's post and the common mispronunciation of Gonzaga I just couldn't help but wonder how the author of this article says Gonzaga. Is it's excitingness dependent on the pronunciation? I think not of course.

Go ZAGS!

lunch

One of the perks of working overtime is the bit it is taking out of my grocery bill. Work provides most lunches for us...and some dinners. Between the two very little cooking is happening at my house these days. Of course it is up to me to pick up the lunches each day. Yesterday we had Sauce. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't have a separate order pick up area so I had to wait in the normal line.

I couldn't help doing a bit of eavesdropping to the conversations around me. The two men behind me were talking about college basketball, one was giving the other a run down on Selection Sunday. Again only half listening. Until of course I hear Gonzaga. Or rather GonzOga, they were clearly not fans nor Washintonians since they couldn't say pronounce it right. It was at this point that I just full on started listening to their conversation. When they couldn't remember "that NBA player who's son is on the team" I felt the need to intercede. I turned around and kindly informed them it's John Stockton's son who is on the team, and let them the proper way to say Gonzaga. Our conversation continued for a few minutes and I about wore out all my Gonzaga/John Stockton knowledge.

I fully admit that I am a fair weather fan. Only during march madness do I pay attention and even then it's usually only until my bracket is so far gone that I know that I won't win. But I knew enough to impress these guys. They invited me to join them for lunch "my treat of course" one of them said. To which I laughed, thinking about the rather LARGE food order I was there to pick up. I quickly informed them that they did not want to buy my lunch and that I was actually just there to pick up an order to go. Wrong thing to say of course they tried to convince me to stay. So this was about the time that I informed them if they really wanted to buy my lunch I was pretty sure that the bill was over $100. Oh the look on their faces was priceless. For some reason they didn't really want to buy lunch for everyone in my office.

there she be

The new couch that is.
Isn't she a beauty?
I love it, even more than I thought I would.
It's the exact style, and color that I was looking for and it is the perfect size for my apartment.
Now who wants to come over and sit on it?
I have to give a SUPER HUGE thanks to my amazing sister, who made it all happen. She was with me the first time I looked at this couch - AND she packed up her three kids and camped out at my apartment for the delivery. Then sent me pictures while I was at work, that I of course showed off to everyone as if it was my first born child. Thank you so so much Linds, you're the best!!

*Sidenote* While writing this I turned on the TV and started watching the movie Eagle Eye. It took me seriously five whole minutes of viewing to realize that I was on a spanish station. Hahahah I guess the couch is so comfy I can't make out English anymore.

the 90's

Yesterday was a totally awesome! For oh so many reasons but for now I shall focus on just one. Surprise packages in the mail. What a glorious thing all on it's own. Lindsey texted me yesterday to let me know that I had gotten something in the mail. A pleasant surprise to come home to for sure.
Here she is. I had absolutely no idea what it was - but we did figure out it was from Jake and Hannah. It was like Christmas morning. It was a box FULL of candy. Does it get any better than that? Oh wait yes it does. It is all candy from the 90's. It even included a card full of fun facts from the decade. Like:
- The top TV shows were The Simpsons, Home Improvement and Dawson's Creek.
- The #1 hit of 1992 was Boyz II Men "End of the Road"
- The #1 haircut was the Rachel
The minute I opened it I was transported back to High School. It was everything they used to sell at the "Jr. Store" at Freeman.

Thanks so much Jake and Hannah I LOVE it.....and have already worked my way through most of the Gobstoppers!
