HOME RUN!!!!

Baseball is not really my favorite sport.....and that is hardly a secret to those who know me. My favorite thing out baseball is this song:

Not the best video/photo slide show - but you know the song is still the same, and it's all I could find. Linds and I used to LOVE making up roller blade dance routines to that tune. I know I know what you are thinking and yes we were that cool.

Enough about my childhood. Back on track here. Friday evening Angela and I headed out to an Angels game with some fellow GGers.

Here is Tori and Kristen showing their team spirit. Angela and I neither one had worn any red [woops!] so we had to pick up these buttons outside.
Here is my take on the game, that the angels unfortunately lost. The first 2 hours were fun, but then I kinda hit my limit. We started playing guess what color of skittle you are eating, and going for walks around the stadium. While wandering the walkways Angela and I stopped to look out over the parking lot, we were watching the sun set when I felt something wet hit the top of my head. I screamed and started screeching "ew ew something landed on my head get it off get it off." After bending over so Angela could examine my head it was determined that someone from above us had spit on me -GROSS GROSS GROSS!!!!!!!!!

The game ended up going into extra innings, it was LONG. It was at this point, when it went into extra innings that I lost all devotion to the Angels - I would cheer for anyone that would score and end the game. It ended up being the Rockies. When it finally ended hours later, we did get a lovely firework show that almost made it all worth it.

MALL exercise

Last week mom and I hit up the Brea mall on our way out of town. Having been up and ready for a while we didn't even realize the early hour. We arrived at the mall around 9:15, the main entrance doors were open, but none of the stores. Silly us thinking that the doors were open meant that the MUST open at 9:30. So we joined in with all of the older people walking the corridors window shopping and getting a little exercise.
After a good while of walking we noticed that it was past 9:30 and 95% of the stores were not open. Drat! Off we went to get some coffee at one of the few places that was. As we walked out of Gloria Jeans we were greeted with an interesting sight. Numerous people were lined up against the railing of the walkway. All spaces apart but about a foot, all arms to their sides looking down. As mom described it they looked like they were robots. Did we some how stumble into an alternate universe? Did the planet get taken over by aliens while we stopped off for coffee?
After walking up to the railing to look down, see what they were looking at we saw more of them. All lined up in a large circle below. It took a good few minutes for us to figure out what was going on.
EXERCISE!!!! There was a women in the middle of the lower circle leading everyone (around 30 people) in all sorts of exorcises. It was quite funny. We attempted to discreetly snap some photos, unfortunately most of them came out blurry.
Next time you go to pay your gym membership you should probably consider just heading out to the mall. You could get in a great morning work out and it would not cost you a thing.

best neighbors EVER

Reason number 5,624 as to why I LOVE our house: we have hands down the greatest neighbors around. Now I know you may be doubting, you may think "well Mandy you may think your neighbors are great but that is just because you have not met mine." To you I say - you wish. Ours are the best.

When we moved it Kent [of the best neighbors ever Kent and Deborah who reside next door to us] offered to help us with the heaving lifting. A few days later, Deborah invited us over for some feasting when they had some friends over and sent us back with plates over flowing with food. They always wave and say hello when we pass them outside, one time even stopping their car as the drove away, just for a quick hello.

Yesterday, yes yesterday was really the cherry on the cake. The day they officially became the best neighbors ever. Kent came over to patrol our backyard. He had noticed that there have been some rodents eating the oranges in his backyard so he came to assess our yard. Even laying out some poison to catch the little critters if they decided to show up. Then a few hours later there was a knock on the front door. There was Kent kindly reminding us that the trash man would come in the morning [we have had some issues remembering what day is trash day - we sorta missed it the first week thinking it was Wednesday but really it was Tuesday] we all jumped off the couch and run out to put the monster cans on the street only to find him already moving them out for us.

THANK YOU for looking out for us neighbors!

a long WEEKEND

I had another long weekend, I am beginning to forget what a full five day work week looks like. This weekend was spent up in Beaumont with lots of family. We were all gathered for the memorial service for my wonderful Grandma Mable. We may have set a new record of how many people could be in the Sutton house - most times there was quite literally not room to move let alone sit down.
Along with seeing TONS of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins I have not seen in a good while I got to hang with Lindsey and crew......and of course spend quality time holding little Audra.
On Sunday we headed up the mountain to visit Jake and Forest Home where he is working for the summer aka Mom's old stomping grounds.
He's pretty high up - obviously- he has his own walky talky.

There is no sneaking into camp here - we had to go to the roundhouse, sign in and get wrist bands just to walk around. This photo was snapped in Indian Village, where the campers get to stay in Tipi's........my favorite part is that they have emergency exits out the back.
These lovely green bleacher seats at Creek Side are from the Athens Olympics.......I had to take a quick rest and photo because who knows this could be as close to any Olympic games as I ever get.

Happy Fathers Day!

LATE LATE LATE

HAPPY [belated] BIRTHDAY MEGAN!!!!!!!

Welcome to Fullerton

Tonight we attempted to take a nice stroll over to the Thursday night Farmers market. We made it about 3 blocks before Rachel tripped on a crack and broke her favorite sandals. Tears were shed. Due to this tragedy we were forced to turn around and head for home to retrieve some new shoes. Walking barefoot down the streets of Fullerton is no bueno.
Rachel was wishing she had prepped for the walk like Angela who was breaking in her new hiking boots.
Once we arrived the market was quite lovely. The sun was shinning, the band was playing. Bliss!
Flowers were purchased.
And hummus was tasted.
Thursday's may just be my new favorite day of the week.

Weekend Recap

I had a request for more photos from the graduation weekend. So be warned this post contains probably more photos than words.
I got to hang out with Rach YAY!! It's still funny to me that she now lives in my old hood.
I GREATLY enjoyed being short for the weekend.
SO MUCH FOOD!!!! We were in a state of constant eating.
Here are some of my lovely aunts and mom
(Dolly missed the memo on wearing Pink)
Pre Graduation photo op.

heheheh this is one of my favs. Jake looks like he is in deep prayer for Cam and his graduating class - he may have been I guess but I am pretty certain he was just suffering from a KILLER sinus headache.
Walking down the aisle.
Photo op with Pops and Gma.
The fake diploma.........why is it red?
Jake and I inadvertently matched.

Project Runway

Not the TV show. HA! We are not that skilled. We are however good for a laugh. Back in the days of my childhood, and teen years I along with my cousins Lara and Alex used to do our fair share of dress up. Lindsey and I had one of the largest collections of dress up clothing around, our collection was made up of everything from old bridesmaid dresses to our parents clothing.

In the midst of graduation celebration we/Lara decided it would be fun to have a fashion show revival. Never before have they been video taped so this is the first ever video footage of a FFF (Floch Family room Fashion show).

There was music, for some reason you can't really hear it, and for the record I know I am and awful dancer (if you can even call whatever that is I am doing dancing)

Say CHEESE!

There is nothing in the world that Cameron loves more than getting his photo taken. Ok well that may not be true - he may possibly love me blogging about him with photos even more. Seeing as were celebrating his graduation this last weekend there were MANY photos taken of him. I tried to explain to him that if he would just smile the first time and not duck, turn his head, or cover his face it would all end a whole lot quicker. But he did not listen.

I didn't take too many photos considering the number of days I was in Spokane, probably around 40 and yet with so few I still ended up with all of these action shots of Cam trying to avoid the camera, each capturing a different technique.
Shutting the door on the camera.
Refusing to turn and face the camera.
Covering the face.
Ducking into Jake.
And the ol closed eye.

Love ya Cam!!

Dirt

My car is beyond dirty. It needs a good washing quite badly. I know this and yet I forget to do it. But as dirty as my car was yesterday it managed to get much much worse. We took a house trip to Ikea yesterday. Had lunch in the restaurant - my first time, I enjoyed it, much more than I thought I would. Wandered the displays and picked out some new furniture for our home - and a few new lovely plants.
We loaded up the car an headed home. Rachel had on plant in hand and the other was placed in the cup holder between the front two seats. Other than a few rattles from the purchases in the back seat it was smooth sailing.............until there was some slamming of breaks on the freeway. The force of the sudden stop propelled the plant out of the cup holder and it plummeted to it's death on the car floor and my purse.
There was dirt EVERYWHERE! I attempted to rescue the plant when we got home. It has been replanted - we'll see if it survives.

This is the remains of dirt after the replanting. Meaning that all the dirt that is in this little pot was once sitting on/in my purse or the floor or my car.

To move into our house, we had to combine to existing residences, Rachel's and Mangela's. With that comes way too much furniture including three kitchen tables and two refrigerators. Since Angela's and my fridge was old, using tons of electricity, incredibly loud and on the second floor we decided we would get rid of ours and keep Rachel's. So we had the genius idea to list it for free on craigslist with the stipulation that they had to remove it from a second floor apartment and haul it away. Sweet right? We get rid of it and we don't have to deal with moving it. Wonderful plan.

Yesterday I listed the fridge and got an overwhelming amount of responses. I told George he could have it, because he said in his email that he had a truck and a dolly it was not problem for him to get it out of the apartment. Great! He would arrive at 5:50.

The time comes, he calls, I go out to the gate to let him in, and what do I see? Not a truck, but a mini van driven by a little older Korean man. The first thing Angela and say/think when we see him "is he going to be able to move that down the stairs by himself?" The answer to that question would be NO. Mandy is going to help him.

So much for not having to move it ourselves. After watching him struggle to get the fridge out the door I stepped in to help him. There was however a slight issue of communication. His English was not top notch - and I have not picked up enough Korean in my office to be able to understand him. Some how I end up pushing the dolly down the stairs while he stands in front making sure it is clear. Three quarters of the way down - I was really struggling. The fridge was heavy and it was incredibly awkward to move it down the stairs and well it slipped.

I dropped the fridge. Which in turn broke a stair. Lovely!
