Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!

Has it been a while since you have heard that word? It had been for me, quite a few years in fact since I had seen the movie. Until Saturday night, Angela, Sylvan, Billy and I ventured out for a night on the town. Dinner and a show. Quite high class for us really.

According to Mary and Bert supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is what you say when you have nothing else to say - so I am of course tempted to just leave this whole post with nothing but a one word description of our evening. BUT let's face it I am just not that good, I like to ramble a little too much to do that.
Upon first glance at this photo you no doubt think we look silly. You would of course be correct. We do look a little silly, especially if you knew how many people were standing around staring at us while we so carefully posed ourselves. If you take time to closely examine the photo you may see that I am not actually just waving to everyone walking in the doors, but we are trying to be like Mary. Which is a good goal seeing as she is practically perfect in every way.
When we have gone to shows in the past they have always been at the Pantages Theatre, so we were pretty excited when we found out this was at the Ahmanson. We had a whole new area to explore before and after the show. Out front there was a great courtyard with a large fountain we found ourselves quite entertained by. Sylvan and Angela chose one of the moments of low water to practice their dance moves.
Billy and I however found ourselves a bit more inspired by the high sprays. We even broke out into a spontaneous song and dance number. Billy serenaded the passersby while I danced up a storm. Sorry about the spray in this photo Billy spits a lot while he sings.
As a whole we had great fun. I was going to tell you what my favorite part was but then I realized I have no idea what it was.............so I give you my top five favorite parts:
1. Mary's magical bag - we had a great debate over how th Mary's is really worked.
2. Bert dancing on the ceiling
3. The Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious number -AMAZING!!!!
4. When Mary flew dancing away with her umbrella and went up into the ceiling right in front of us
5. Step in Time........chimney sweeps, woot!

A Cripple

I thought I had outgrown my clumsiness. It had disappeared for a while. I was not running into walls, doors or furniture. I had even managed to stop spilling my food and drinks. It has been a good year. Quite literally as it has been a year since I was having these issues. If you recall long long ago I even blogged about this very thing. Well as they say all good things must come to an end. My coordination is now gone. Back is the girl who spills and runs into things. I am a mess.

It has been a gradual process really. I spilled my Chipotle a couple of weeks ago, but thought nothing of it. Because really who doesn't spill Chipotle, it is just a messy mess meal. Then I spilled a cup of water all over my desk at work, nearly destroying my computer. I have also started spilling my coffee nearly every day. But last night, oh last night. My clumsiness basically attacked me.

First I broke a nail. Which would not have been a big deal if it had not been down so far on my finger that is started spewing blood. I quickly bandaged it and went on with my night, only to discover I have a rather large bruise on my leg from running into the kitchen table. Then, what felt like minutes later I went to get something out of the fridge. Such a simple task, should have been easy, but no. I managed to jam my thumb into the shelf with great force. Oh my word it hurt so bad, I gasped in pain and jumped around thinking that would make it stop throbbing. After reenacting what happened for Angela I actually looked at it. My response: Aaaahhhh! It too was bleeding. Bleeding out of control. No amount of pressure would make it stop.

I then had to face the rest of my evening as a near cripple. Do you have any idea how limited you are with two bandaged fingers? It is rough.

Showers of Another Kind

The Penthouse went straight from rain showers to bridal showers. We don't mess around. This weekend Angela and I got to host/attend two showers for our dear friend Jeni. We just can't get enough of her gift opening. Good thing we will get to do it all over again at the wedding in two weeks.

To sum it all up we had lots of fun games, great food, gifts, and glorious stories. Of course because I am a wee bit camera happy I have a few photos that I believe captured the highlights of the grand events.

First we have Jeni holding up her paint chips. These are the colors of her wedding, which she has been carrying around in her purse for the last couple of months. Each card represents a person or thing at the ceremony. Ivory being her, dark green would be Josh in his uniform, and of course the eggplant represents Angela, Megan and I.

This picture has a multiple choice caption.
In this photo Ally is:
A) Doing and interpretive dance to High School Musical's "This Could Be The Start of Something New"
B) Reenacting Jeni and Josh's proposal
C) Dominating at a shower game
D) All of the above
What would a shower be with out TONS of gifts??? Let's just say that at least half of Jeni's presents did not have bows on them.............and that is one pretty massive (and wonderfully made if I do say so myself) bow bouquet - so you can only imagine what great loot she walked away with. Watch out Virginia!

Flash Flood Warnings [3]

Boy oh boy was yesterday and eventful day.
The flood warnings finally made good on their word.
It all started at work. Where I had to tape up the windows multiple times.
Then water began dripping out of a few light fixtures.
Followed by ceiling tiles falling from the sky.
There were a few moments where I really thought our building would crumble around me.
I don't think that we have any garbage cans that are being used for trash, instead they are all catching dripping water.
And just because the rain was not quite exciting enough, our elevator broke down yet again. This time trapping the Fed Ex man inside. When I called to report this the elevator company kindly told me they would not be able to make it out due to the bad weather. Seriously, that is what they said. So I kindly reminded him that this was an emergency - there was a man stuck in the elevator and if they did not come he would remain there all night. Eventually they did arrive and release him.
Needless to say I was relieved to leave work and escape the leaks.
HA!
Little did I know that I would soon embark on an extensive journey. I set a new record. It took me two hours and eleven minutes to get home. That is 11 miles. YIKES!! Beach blvd was closed, along with numerous other roads that lead to La Habra. Thankfully Angela was home, and able to give directions as to how I could get around the madness and street closures.
When I left work I had a quarter of a tank of gas, generally enough to get me to and from work at least two times. Not the case this time, part way through my journey my gas light came on. I really though I was going to run out of gas and be stranded.
I had never been so excited to pull into my parking spot. Home at last. I could finally rest.
Or not.
Remember how we have had some issues with a leak in our roof? Twice before.
Well yeah the leak came back.
And and allowed it to downpour on my bed.
Such a travesty. Look at my sad sad bed.

The City!

Yesterday Angela and I took a little stroll down memory lane, as it was that day five years ago that we embarked on our first college road trip. Along with Joe, Michael and Louis we headed off to San Francisco for a few days of exploration.
We greatly enjoyed an audio tour of Alcatraz. I remember being slightly disturbed that in August they offer and alumni tour......the guides having been Alcatraz inmates. And you better watch out in the dinning hall, Thursday is spaghetti night, which has been known to cause a brawl here and there.
We rode the trolley, took a boat ride around the bay, visited Coit tower, Golden Gate Park, Peir 39, yeah, we pretty much hit up all the great tourist hot spots.
Angela and I really enjoyed driving the guys crazy for most of the trip. I have fond memories of forcing them to listen to Avril Lavine at 8am, and making fun of their driving/map reading skills. Oh and I cant forget the two hours we spend searching the Internet tyring to find the "Full House" house. If my memory serves me right Joe was so not a fan of going there. We eventually found the painted ladies which at the time we believed were the "Full House" house -only to find out later they were not. But they were in the opening credits of the show. Somewhere in San Francisco is where I had my first experience with Indian food. I did not like it one bit. Little did I know that three years from then it would soon become a substantial part of my life.

Flash Flood Warnings [2]

I retract my statement about there not being any actual flooding. My office is leaking. All of the windows in fact. Now I would kindly like someone to explain to me why this is my problem. I do have a history with a leaking roof, but never a window. A repairman I am not, and yet I am the one called to action with shouts of terror. Seriously you would think I work with the wicked witch who fears melting upon contact with water.

So I did as any person could have done and got some towels to wipe up the water. Joy! Then I applied a beautiful layer of masking tape to the window. At which point I was not so kindly informed that masking tape would do nothing. Really people? I have limited resources I don't know what they expected me to do. I am not a miracle worker nor a window repairman.

For the record the water is now above the sidewalk at my office......I think I may be swimming home today.

Flash Flood Warnings!!!

Can you believe that we are getting Flash Flood warnings? Perhaps I should be more concerned but really it just makes me want to laugh. Sure it is raining quite steadily.....but I hardly think there is going to be any actual flooding. But weather.com and all other online weather sources for that matter disagree. They think it is quite serious.
I think they should make their warning a little bit more intimidating. Maybe larger, or a darker red....that hardly catches your eye.

This morning taking the rain into consideration I decided to leave for work a few minutes earlier than normal. Five minutes is all we are talking here. I left the apartment, it was raining pretty good at this point, and I started my drive. A whopping twenty minutes later I arrived at work - twenty minutes early. Not only was there no traffic, but I hit every light green. Why does that never happen when I am running late? Apparently more people get Martin Luther King Jr. Day off than I thought.

Recap

This week has been crawling by at a glacial speed. I sadly think that is Chucks fault. My week peaked too early. With Chuck being on both Sunday and Monday I did not have much left to look forward to the rest of the week.
Along with it being a slow week it has been a rather uneventful week, hence the lack of postage.....and the lack of substance in the one post that has been. Vitamins really? My life is lacking spice.
Here are some of the non highlights of my week post Chuck premiere:
1. I ate dinner at Costco (I like their pizza)
2. I rediscovered American Idol. Not that I didn't' know it existed or anything. I mean I used to be obsessed with it, I even had and American Idol birthday party once. But I have not watched it in oh about 6 years, thanks to college and the fact that I rely on bunny ears to bring in my reception and fox and the bunny ears were not on speaking terms. Until the days of the digital converter box. So than you Mr. Converter box for bringing American Idol back into my life. Although I must admit that I feel like committing to watch a full season of American Idol requires me to give up a year of my life - it is very time consuming.
3. While on the topic of American Idol, can we for one moment discuss the judges. I think Simon is hilarious, but I must admit that I was greatly concerned when I saw Victoria Beckham. I hardly think being a spice girl qualifies someone to be a singing judge. In the end I think she did alright, especially considering she commented on people looks and clothing far more often than there singing abilities.
4. Why was The Office not on last night?
5. In actual real exciting news. Lindsey and Kevin are most likely having a girl. Which to me translates to they ARE having a girl. I am quite excited about all the pink and ruffly things I will now be able to buy. Here she is:
But have no fear, just becuaes there will soon be a little girl does not mean that I will forget about this little guy - because really in that sweater isn't he absolutely adorable.
*Photos are compliments of Lindsey's blog, where I shamelessly stole them from her last post.

Vitamins

I rarely ever take daily vitamins. Not because I don't have any, there is a nearly full jar sitting in my cupboard right now. In the same place it has been for the last year. I simply forget to take them, and then on the rare occasion that I do remember to take them I don't want to. They are large, and rather disgusting tasting. Not something I really want to choke down every morning.

And really I have lived a good life without them, I have yet to catch a disease or ilness just because I didn't take them. But at the same time I am sure the are benneficial. I mean mom always made us take them when we were younger, and moms know everything about being healthy.

About two weeks ago I was beginning to suffer minor cold symptoms. As a result I started downing vitamin C and echinacea. I ran out of vitamin C and found myself in the vitamin aisle at Target searching for more. This is when I discovered, gummy vitamin C tablets, I had to have them. They were oh so good, I kept wanting to take them, even when my cold passed. Thus I decided that if they made multi vitamins in gummy form I might actually take them.

I am sure you can see where this is going. Last night as I walked into Costco the whole front of the store was display after display of vitamins, and what was sitting there right in the middle, just waiting for me to pick it up? That's right, none other than these lovely multi vites. I was SO excited about this purchase, perhaps a little too excited, I busted them open the minute I got home. They are AMAZING, so so so tasty, like candy, yum. Now I shall arise each morning excited to take vitamins.

He's Back!

So the big question of the day did you watch Chuck last night? My guess is actually you did. Seeing as most people who read this were either at my house watching it or at my parents house, except of course maybe one person (cough Jake cough) but you know their loss.

I celebration of the return - and in honor of the Orange Orange some of my friends (you know they are true friends because they put up with my crazy obsessiveness) headed out to get some frozen yogurt before the show began. This is our best spy pose:

Carlos is planning on high kneeing the criminals to death, Tori is going to distract them with her good looks, I think it is more likely that I will fall over than actually kick someone and Rachel well she may have been confused and thought that we were going to watch top model and not chuck.

The best part of the evening may have been the screams that would occur when we would momentarily lose reception. The Penthouse does not have the luxury of cable television, we like to keep is old school with an antenna and converter box. For the most part it was coming in perfectly clear, but there were a few moments where Chuck would start to studder or the screen would just freeze up. I was not the only one to freak out - which in my book is a good thing, that means other people are just as attached to Chuck as I am. Thank goodness Tori discovered an amazing way to clear up the loss of reception. How she discovered it I am not sure, perhaps she was trying out her kung fu skills. From her seat on the couch she could do a high kick and it would cure all of our problems, the reception was instantly clear again. Now that's what I call awesome!

Happy Birthday Tori!

This evening we got to celebrate the birth of Tori.
It was quite magnificent, can't you tell by the party hats?
Check out the birthday musical stylings of Nicki. We tried to get her to sing over the loudspeaker at In n Out, she however told us that she didn't need the loudspeaker to be heard by all. It's true, I am pretty certain all eyes were on her - and Tori while singing.

Happy Birthday Tori!!

Oh Adam

Do you like how both of my posts so far this week have a guys name in the title? It makes me laugh, we'll have to see if it continues on. First order of business here, if you are not a member of my family or from Spokane than the following will mean absolutely nothing to you. I apologize and hope you find enjoyment in my regularish posts which will return back to normal topics (if there is such a thing on this blog) tomorrow.

Yesterday I was perusing the Internet, like I do everyday, when I saw a funny headline in Yahoo. It was something along the lines of "NBA player steals other teams high-five." I read it and thought, really? why would you steal someone high five? that is just lame. So naturally I had to open the article and watch the video.

You may like me have thought to yourself who would do such a thing, stoop to that level. The answer is Adam Morrison [insert eye roll] of course.

The Future Billy

Saturday night I felt the need to end my hermit ways and hang out with some people besides the cast of Alias. Thus I headed out to Downtown Disney with Carlos and Billy to take in a film. Boy was that the place to be. It was packed - and not just with holiday theme park goers. The Texas Longhorns football team was at the ESPN zone, along with ESPN and various news reporters and film crews. Madness.

After the movie we were walking around, in pursuit of food when Carlos says something along the lines of "look there's Billy's family." Now of course I look around, thinking I will see Billy's actual family. His dad after all works at Disneyland, it would not be such a strange occurrence to see him here. But no. Carlos was pointing to one of the caricatures at the stand next to us.

Sure enough it is Billy ten years from now with his future wife and children.
